The smartphone is so ubiquitous in our lives, it’s strange that manufacturers have turned them into such dull, impersonally slick devices. I came up with this concept to show that the smartphone could be a far more personal object. The easily exchangeable case acts as a shell protecting the more delicate interior while also allowing for easy customisation. I added more functionality to the back of the smart phone: there’s a camera, of course, but also an integrated foldout stand that makes it a whole lot easier to video chat or shoot selfies and videos. The integrated eyelet with wristband accessory means it’s easy to carry the phone with you.

Improving usability is key to innovation.
